Classes are offered for both Consumer and Corporate Programs

Prism Health & Wellness offers FREE* or discounted exercise, nutrition and stress management programs taught by certified fitness trainers and registered dietitians that are educational, motivational and fun! Classes are offered at a variety of locations throughout the Western New York area. All courses require advance registration. For more information or to register call 204-1477 or 683-3366 .

Class Descriptions:

Fitness that Fits You
Is a small group personal training program that teaches the importance of staying fit at any age. Mild strength training and light aerobic training will rev up your cardio routine and tone-up for a brand new you!

This class meets one time per week for 1 hour for 8 weeks.


Food For Thought
Finally, a nutrition plan that will allow you to achieve healthy lifestyle goals - lose or maintain your current weight. Food for Thought is a fun and motivating class taught by registered dietitians. Topics: Fat Facts, Goal Setting, Food Cravings, Emotional Eating, Metabolism, Find Out About Fiber, Healthy Cooking, Eating Out, Holidays and Celebrations!

This class meets one time per week for 1 hour for 8 weeks.


Flexercise
Is a fun and effective exercise class that uses physio-balls to teach gentle stretching and mild strength training. This course will help you maintain joint mobility, increase resistance to muscular injury and soreness, increase balance, prevent low back pain and improve postural alignment.

This class meets one time per week for 1 hour for 8 weeks.


Pilates
Is a program that strengthens the muscles that support the spine and brings balance to the body. Decrease tension, increase flexibility, and strengthen the body from the inside out. Empower your body and mind while strengthening core abdominal muscles. Achieve optimum posture, balance and a healthy body.

This class meets one time per week for 1 hour for 8 weeks.


Ai Chi
Is relaxation through movement; although a fairly new form of relaxation exercise, its design stems from the principles of Tai Chi, Shiatsu and Qi Gong. Much of the emphasis of Ai Chi is placed on coordinating soft, rounded movements of the body with deep diaphragmatic breaths. The purpose of Ai Chi is relaxation and a restoration of balance within the mind and body. It is functional exercise that also improves flexibility, balance and core strength.

This class meets one time per week for 1 hour for 8 weeks.


Relaxation & Stress Reduction Program
Is designed to be easily understood, comprehensive and effective in alleviating the symptoms of stress.This program will provide participants with an understanding of stress and their reaction to it, techniques for relaxation, skills for coping with mental, environmental and job stress, helpful nutrition ideas, and basic exercise skills, and finally a management overview to ensure participants stick to their plan.

This class meets one time per week for 1 hour for 5weeks.


Diabetes
The Total Health Approach - Take advantage of a unique diabetes education class with a “total health” approach. Individual needs and preferences will be addressed and you will be fully committed to making long-term lifestyle changes. Each class is taught by a registered dietitian and certified diabetes educator and will include medical and nutritional components. Topics include: Monitoring Blood Sugar, Physical Activity, Foot and Skin Care, Medications, Eating For Diabetes, Label Reading, Alcohol, Meal Planning…plus much more! Participants will receive diabetes booklets and a healthy food tasting is included in each class.

This class meets one time per week for 1 hour and 15 mins. for 8 weeks.


Yoga
Is a timeless, ancient art that offers a sense of vitality and well-being while increasing strength, grace and flexibility. Whatever your age, state of health, state of mind, or lifestyle, you will learn techniques that will help you lead a healthier, more fulfilling life.

This class meets one time per week for 1 hour for 8 weeks.


Kids Fitness That Fits You & Kids Flexercise
Is a fun, fitness and flexibility program for children 7-15 years old. This program consists of teaching the importance of becoming fit and making the necessary changes now. Core topics covered in the program will be weight management, nutrition essentials, toning and body shaping, core strengthening, and stress reduction and relaxation. The exercise routine incorporates cardiovascular, stretching and strengthening activities using the ball as well as fun games. Participants are tested at the beginning and end of each program. Parents are required to participate with their child.

This class meets two times per week for 1 hour for 8 weeks.


Blue Cross Blue Shield of WNY & Community Blue of WNY (Alive & Lively Program) will pay for individual programs, various health education & fitness classes. Independent Health, Univera and other Insurances may also cover classes. ADDITIONAL SPECIAL OFFERS AVAILABLE - Call for details!
